The Tread Gently journey will traverse a land of tremendous contrast.
Many of the areas visited will be accessible only by 4WD, boat, or foot. Come with us as we navigate some of the most exciting and treacherous terrain in Australia.
From the city of Sydney, we follow the beautiful coastline of New South Wales and Queensland up to the Cape York Peninsula, the northernmost point of Australia. We then skirt the edge of the Gulf of Carpenteria before embarking on a discovery of wild and breathtaking Kakadu Park; and on to Darwin.
A quick side trip takes us out to Bathurst and Melville Islands for some amazing Barramundi fishing!, before heading south to Katherine Gorge. We then turn west to explore the Kimberley and its environs.
From there we travel towards Broome, the western most point of our journey. (and incredibly HOT!- Broome is 18 degrees south of the equator). After traversing the Tanami Desert, we head towards Alice Springs and Uluru(Ayers Rock).
Finally we cross the Simpson Desert, then down along the infamous Birdsville Track and back to Sydney.
As we travel we will be stopping at many different places and engaging in a number of bizarre and exciting activities such as Thunder Egg Digging, visiting a crocodile farm, exploring ghost towns, going to an Opal mine, panning for gold, and whale and dolphin watching to name just a few.
